Lake Trout that reach 40+ pounds are living in the pristine waters of the "Promised Land". Though the average is slightly smaller, Brown, Tiger, and Rainbow Trout from 18" to 25" are the norm. $50,000 Fishing Derby News!
I talked to Crystal from the EVR the other day and she tells me that the $50,000 Derby up at Eagle Valley and Echo Canyon State Parks will be May 2nd and 3rd this year.
The Derby is sponsored by many different companies and people, but make sure you stop by the Eagle Valley Ressort and thank Pat and John for their tremendous efforts to make the derby a success year after year. The proceeds go to help young students in the area with tuition for college.
We will be taking a few more anglers up with us this year, I don't believe there are any rental cabins left, but we will be camping at the Echo campground anyway.

I'd like to send out a special Thank You to Steve Smith of Reaction Strike Lures for letting me join him for a litlle bit of Fishing for Smallmouth Bass at Otter Creek last June. It really means a lot when I can have someone show me a new technique or type of fishing that I have never experienced before.

I have been getting reports from Kevin at Lake Mead Fishfinder's, and Ambassador Guides on Lake Powell, and they are all saying they are slaying the Stripers! Bob Glenn, who lives in Overton, and I have been fishing the upper lake once or twice a week since Christmas, and doing very well for ourselves!

We will be fishing a lot this year starting with the Ice Fishing Derby on January 24th. We fished at Sunnyside for big Trout on the 25th. We've been fishing Lake Mead a couple of times already, and took some kids fishing in our local ponds since the weather has been GREAT!. We will also be fishing Echo Canyon and Eagle Valley for the $50,000 Derby on May 2nd and 3rd.
We have another family trip to Lincoln county for our Plugs n' Paddles Canoe/Fish camping weekend with the Las Vegas Canoe Club
at Pahranagat NWR on May 19-20.
We are going to fish in the 35th annual Marina Del Rey Halibut Derby will be April 4th and 5th.
We begin our Summer fishing in Utah at Panguitch and Otter Creek for our annual
Pass Creek Invitational
on June 8-12 and we will paddle down the Colorado from Hoover Dam more than once this summer with another on Halloween Weekend.
We also fish the Annual TroutStock at Mammoth Labor Day Weekend.
There is also a lot of talk about fishing Alaska too!
Looks like gas prices are trying to halt our San Diego fishing trips again this year, but we won't let that stop us. And we'll be making more trips all year to catch some big ones!
