Record 405lb Tuna Caught aboard the Vagabond out of Point Loma!
News Page
Recorde Yellowfin Tuna Caught

According to news sources a 400 plus pound Yellowfin Tuna was caught On Tuesday Southwest of Mag Bay. This week while aboard the Vagabond out of Point Loma, Mike Livingston landed the Tuna of his lifetime. A 400 plus pound Yellowfin Tuna, caught off the Coast of Baja California in an area known as the Revillagigedo Islands. The archipelago consists of numerous volcanic islands and is about 300 miles south of the Baja Penninsula. Although fishing is still closed within six miles of the islands, the outlying ocean is still rich in pelagic sea- life. While on a 10 day long range trip from San Diego the Angler hooked into the magnificent fish while "cow hunting" in the rich waters of southern Baja, and when he landed it, and still in shock from the memorable fight, quit fishing for the day and only caught one other small tuna during the remainder of the trip. The Captain of the Vagabond Mike Lackey estimated the catch at 390 lbs which would still have been over the record of 388 lb 12 oz set in 1977, and when finally weighed topped the scales at over 405 lbs. A weight that will certainly make the record books. Kudos to the lucky angler and in expectation of a new record setting weight... CONGRATULATIONS. Jamie Flanagan Angler 1
